Forget Nightclubs, Gym Classes Are Now The Hottest Party In Town

If you think about it, the nightclub and the gym are not so different: skin is shown, sweat drips, music pulsates.

But until now, it seems, they hadn't been combined. Courtney Rubin reports for The New York Times that a number of gyms in New York City and around the country are offering evening workouts which might incorporate aerobic dancing, a live DJ, and a disco ball, as at Barry's Bootcamp, in the Flatiron District.

At SoulCycle, also in New York, a post-workout glass of Champagne complements an evening ride; and in Houston, Nightclub Cardio offers "dress-to-sweat" dance workouts.

Rubin writes that the "gym-as-nightclub" affords some exercisers, skeptical of the bar scene, the chance to meet new people. Others might be tired of going to regular nightclubs, while some may want a more stimulating workout experience.

Just make sure you leave your heels at home.
